Los Angeles, CA – January 10, 2025 – Pear Suite, a digital health company and administrator of Pear Cares, the largest network of community health workers in the nation, is offering support to California residents in L.A. and Ventura counties impacted by the ongoing Palisades, Kenneth, and other wildfires.
There are currently more than 700 Community Health Workers (CHWs) in the Pear Cares provider network in California. The primary role of CHWs is to provide community support, connecting individuals and families to food, housing, clothing, and medical resources, like counseling services, to ensure that their basic needs are being met. In times of crisis, like after the devastating loss of a home or in the face of a natural disaster, CHWs are critical.
With fires still raging and residents across greater Los Angeles facing evacuation and loss of their belongings and homes, Pear Cares CHWs are mobilized and ready to offer free support to residents needing to access food, water, temporary shelter, transportation and health services.
“Unfortunately, this is not unfamiliar territory for us,” said Colby Takeda, co-founder and CEO of Pear Suite. “In 2023, we were on the ground in Hawaii, supporting community members affected by the Lahaina wildfires, many of whom were our family and friends. We’re prepared to do it again and offer our support to anyone affected by the fires in California.”
Residents of L.A. or Ventura counties, or friends or family members who know of residents in these areas who need support, may call (650) 789-7340 or complete a brief social needs screening online at pearcares.com.
